A Merseyside road will be closed for two days every week for the next year to make way for a new open-air market.
Market Street in Southport will now shut down on Wednesdays and Thursdays starting from August 3. The council has also approved the implementation of temporary traffic lights at the junction of King Street.
The decision comes as the council looks to bring back open-air markets that proved popular with locals in other areas of Southport. The road will be closed from 5am to 8pm on both days.

The report said: "It is proposed that the market stalls will be placed on the carriageway of Market Street. To maintain health and safety for the stallholders and for the general public it is, therefore, necessary for a temporary Traffic Regulation Order to be put in place to close Market Street to all traffic."
Plans were submitted to Sefton council this year and approved in June. Outdoor market stalls will be on Market Street for the next 12 months.
It goes on to say: "The Cabinet Member approves the implementation of a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order, the effect of which will temporarily close Market Street, Southport between 05.00 hours and 20.00 hours, between its junction with King Street and the Market delivery entrance."
