Merseyside restaurant offering stunning views across the River Mersey

It doesn't get much better than enjoying an ice cold pint in a scenic beer garden when the sun's shining.

With the weather finally proving it can do something other than rain in Britain, people across Merseyside are looking for the perfect place to enjoy a beer or two in the sun.

We're definitely not short of options in Merseyside, with a wealth of stunning watering holes at our fingertips - one of which is The Refreshment Rooms.

Based in Rock Ferry , The Refreshment Rooms was originally a place for ferry workers to rest and grab a drink between trips in the 1880s, and the restaurant it has become aims to replicate its strong feeling of community.

Around nine years ago The Refreshment Rooms was derelict, having formerly been a pub and left in disrepair.

Now, the business is thriving, with lunch and dinner service selling out almost daily, and quickly becoming a pillar of its community.

The venue relaunched as a pub and quickly became favoured for its food - now the venue is booming with people looking for a good meal every day.

The Refreshment Rooms offers a light, airy atmosphere that keeps people coming back - and it’s only a short trip through the Queensway tunnel for anyone in Liverpool too.

Alongside the large space inside, the restaurant offers an extensive outdoor area with picnic tables where diners can soak up the sun.

Families will feel right at home with the community feel too - and there’s even a small play area for children that has a sunken pirate ship.

The Refreshment Rooms is nestled along the shoreline near Rock Ferry Bypass, but it has plenty of access from the road.

The building looks out across the River Mersey towards Liverpool’s Brunswick Dock.

The restaurant has historical ties with places across Wirral and Liverpool , with many features that have a history all of their own.

The bar that sees many drinks served across it each day at The Refreshment Rooms was previously of Wirral Grammar School, as the wood from the old science labs was repurposed for the top bar.

The restaurant also features an enormous glass chandelier that once hung in Liverpool’s Cunard House , one of the city’s Three Graces .

The restaurant has a large menu, serving many things from pub grub classics like fish and chips, and burgers and chips, but with the added flair of dishes such as Thai style salmon ‘n’ cod fishcakes and salt ‘n’ pepper belly pork skewers.

The Refreshment Rooms is open from 12pm until 9pm Monday to Friday, and from 9am - 9pm at weekends.
