Merseyside police are recruiting for more than a dozen roles and not all of them require the ideal candidate to be as qualified as you might think.
15 positions are currently available at Merseyside Police, headquartered on Grosvenor Street, Liverpool, ranging from jobs on the 'beat' and in investigations to jobs behind the scenes with their social media team. They are even seeking a 'handyperson', so the range of qualifications required is broad.
They are also advertising for the police officer degree entry holder programme, a two year, on-the-job training programme where the successful candidate will take on studies as well as a role on the beat as a student officer. The only qualification listed is that the ideal candidate has achieved a pass mark in any undergraduate degree subject.

There is also a position going for a serious crime investigator, paying up to £31,725, working as part of a team dedicated to the analysis of serious or major crime and the re-investigation of unresolved cold cases. A few of the many qualifications required include an in depth criminal investigation background, experience of reviewing murders, experience in investigating domestic violence and child protection cases, and good computer skills.
The highest paid role going is for a learning and development manager, which pays up to £54,600. The successful candidate will be tasked with leading the force's training delivery team to deliver learning and development to all employees in the force.
The person specification for the role asks for knowledge of how digital working will affect the future needs of all those who work in the police, skill in working inclusively and experience in creating a framework to deliver a diverse range of learning resources. The job advert says that 50% of the role will be focuses on "developing excellence".
