Merseyside Police have issued a statement indicating action will be taken over any 'unacceptable' chants at tonight's derby between Liverpool and Everton.
The two city sides meet at Anfield later on in an 8pm kick off, with both teams looking to improve on a poor Premier League campaign.
Ahead of the game, the Liverpool matchday police officers' account posted on social media today to say: "Just to be 100% clear. Any chants in relation to 'murderers' or 'always the victim' are football tragedy related and totally unacceptable.
"Behind them are people who have suffered unimaginable pain. [Where] possible, positive police and stewarding action will be taken."
The message was then reposted on Twitter by the equivalent account for Everton's local matchday officers.
In response to a fan enquiry, the Liverpool matchday force also confirmed: "Stewards will be briefed to take positive action to all offensive flags and banners including any [Steaua] flags."
The Everton matchday police account offered another reminder to supporters this morning, which read: "Turnstiles are open from 6pm, so plenty of time to get to the ground. Everton supporters entering via turnstiles N, O and P. Also approach from Goodison side of the stadium."
Both matchday police accounts also posted a joint statement about general policing measures that will be in operation this evening.
It read: "Ahead of the Liverpool vs Everton FC match today, we will use specialist resources such as the mounted, drone unit and helicopter to help make the event a safe and enjoyable match, but also be used to capture evidence of those who wish to act in a disorderly or criminal manner."
