An anonymous man from Merseyside – known only as “Mr. B” – won almost £100k last month on the lottery.
The mysterious Mr. B won £99,707.10 on Tuesday, April 5 when he matched five main numbers and one lucky star in the Euromillions draw on a lucky dip ticket. The life-changing amount is just one of many of Merseyside’s lottery winners over the years.
In 2016 the area was identified as one of the luckiest places in the UK to play the lottery, after 14 players with a Liverpool postcode were turned into millionaires over two years. The lottery sees eight million winners each week.

Andy Carter, senior winners’ advisor at The National Lottery, said: “What brilliant news for Mr. B for winning this fantastic prize. He can look forward to making amazing memories as the latest National Lottery winner.”
Around 45 million people are estimated to take part in the lottery on a regular basis, according to Lottoland. Winners may choose to stay anonymous, partially anonymous or share their name.
Mr. B is in good company as the biggest winner on the lottery ever in the UK – with a Euromillions jackpot of over £170m in 2019 – also chose to stay anonymous. As of March 2021, the biggest winner in Merseyside is Mossley Hill joiner David Ashcroft, who won £12.3m in May 1997.
The lottery has awarded over £83b in prizes and created more than 6,300 millionaires since launching in 1994.
