A couple who went to America for a "quiet" wedding ended up next door to Donald Trump as he appeared in court.
Josh Owens-Winn, 33, from Huyton and his wife Mercedes, 30, from Birkenhead, got engaged in New York in 2014 and knew right away that was where they wanted to get married. After telling their families they were going to cross the pond alone for a "quiet wedding" the couple arrived at their hotel in Manhattan.
Josh described how the day before their wedding they saw on the news that Donald Trump had landed in the city and was in his tower before he was due to appear in court.

Josh told The ECHO: "We were in the hotel and saw he was here before getting indicted tomorrow (Tuesday, April 4) and we initially thought 'this is going to get cancelled this'. It was alright in the end but the most annoying thing is they [the taxi] wouldn't drop us off outside the office so we had to walk though the middle of New York, me in a three piece suit and Mercedes in her wedding dress.
"I felt bad for her [Mercedes] but everybody in America is just so friendly and they were all saying 'congratulations' which made it quite fun."
Once the couple, who had been together since 2009, arrived at New York City Marriage Bureau they got married and paid for their photographer to be their witness. Next door the former US leader was earlier formally arrested following his arrival at Manhattan Criminal Courthouse.
Trump pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts including falsifying business records "to conceal damaging information and unlawful activity" from voters before and after the presidential election in 2016. Upon leaving the Marriage Bureau Josh said it was "mad" to see so many people on Lower Manhatten.
He said: "If I was to make a comparison, we were at St George's Hall and they [Trump and the media] were by The Empire. At first I was thinking 'what's going on' because the police presence was mad.
"There were helicopters in the sky and people everywhere. Then some of the media came over and started asking us questions.
"It was a day to remember for sure. We paid for a photographer for two hours and we had some pictures done in Central Park after.
"We didn't want a big wedding, which is mad considering we've ended up on the news."
