Mersey mansions with pools and tennis courts plummeting in price

The ECHO has taken a look at some of the Merseyside mansions whose sale prices are being slashed as the property market takes a nosedive.

The homes for sale include properties with their own pool, red brick manors nestled into woodland and huge gardens boasting tennis courts. They're up for grabs in some of the most enviable locations in the region.

In Caldy, one of the most exclusive postcodes in the whole of Merseyside, a stunning home boasting sweeping sea views was listed for sale in September for £1.45m. The price has now been reduced by agents Fine & Country to £1.25m.

The five-bed, three-bath property is nestled into woodland on Caldy Road and was once two separate homes.

The interior of the hillside mansion is immaculate. Outside there is a tiered garden offering amazing views of Caldy Beach and beyond, as well as vast grounds for the whole family to relax in.

Known as 'Holyrood', the property on Stockswell Road in Widnes has been in the ownership of one family since 1978.

It has five bedrooms and three bathrooms and is dripping with country charm. Five acres of grazing land is also included with the listing, comprising an acre of garden with a summer house, green house and garden garage.

In September, the property was placed on the market with Fine & Country for £1.4m, but is now available for offers over £1m.

The family that have lived in the home for more than 40 years have made significant changes, including doubling the footprint of the property in 1991.

A mansion fit for a Premier League footballer, located on Farr Hall Drive in Heswall, was placed on the market with a hefty price tag of £1.85m in July.

It features everything you'd expect from a sprawling manor - a heated indoor pool, gym, a grade winding staircase and a summer house. The property was specially designed and blends modern features with Georgian characteristics.

The price has since been slashed to £1.75m by agents Karl Tatler.

A five-bed home for sale in Hoylake, known as Stanmore, has an abundance of quirks, including floor to ceiling panelling and a 'secret door' in the billiard room.

Period features include original parquet flooring, historic fireplaces and stained glass windows. There's also a freestanding bath in the master bedroom for an added touch of luxury.

The property was initially put up for sale with Market Street Homes for £1.9m, but has been reduced to £1.79m.

Stanmore is also a stone's throw from the Royal Liverpool Golf Club, where the British Open will take place next year. The listing includes one acre of sweeping landscaped gardens, complete with ponds, a summerhouse, outbuildings and your very own tennis court.

It's not just ready-made mansions that are being reduced. A plot of land on Kirklake Road in Formby was on the market with Savills for more than £2m in July, but has dropped to a guide price of £1.75m.

The "unique development opportunity" is in a "very exclusive location close to Formby beach", the listing said. Known as Greenloons Farm, it spans about two acres.

There is planning permission in place for two different mansion designs; one is modern and sleek, the other is more traditional. Both home plans have a footprint of about 13,500 sq ft.
