Merry Crisp-mas! Mariah Carey signs up for Walkers' Christmas advert

Mariah Carey is the new face of Walkers and stars in the brand's latest festive advert.

The singer has signed up for the snack brand’s Christmas campaign which is set to launch in November.

A newly-released promotional images show Carey dressed in a sparkling red gown, proudly clutching a packet of ready salted crisps.

She stands in front of a snowscape featuring Christmas trees, presents, a sleigh and a framed painting of herself riding a winged horse - the perfect Christmas gift.

Queen of Christmas: Carey is known for her 1994 festive hit (Walkers)

“Everyone knows how festive I am, and it’s been fun getting into the holiday spirit this year with Walkers crisps - they’re irresistible!” Carey is quoted as saying.

“I can’t say too much about the campaign yet, but there may be some fun twists at the end!”

The singer's 1994 hit All I Want For Christmas Is You remains a festive classic and the Walkers campaign will coincide with the 25th anniversary of her festive album, Merry Christmas, which will be re-released on November 1.

Carey also recently announced her All I Want For Christmas Is You tour.

Wayne Newton, head of marketing at Walkers, said: “Our seasonal range of flavours - from Pigs in Blankets to Brussels Sprouts - has just been reintroduced to shelves, and we know the nation is already feeling festive as a result.

“But with Mariah on board too, our Christmas spirit has just stepped up a gear.

“It doesn’t get much bigger than working with a global superstar like Mariah and it’s been a big secret for us to keep - but we can finally announce that the rumours are true… the Queen of Christmas herself will be the star of our biggest ever Walkers Christmas advert.”

The brand previously worked with the Spice Girls, whose recent campaign coincided with their reunion tour, and I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here runner-up Emily Atack.

Sports broadcaster Gary Lineker has been the face of the snack brand for more than two decades.
