Mercedes releases new plug-in hybrid

After launching the new C-Class model with the diesel variant, Mercedes-Benz Thailand is expanding the line-up with the plug-in hybrid version.

While the C 220d is priced from 2,590,000 to 2,990,000 baht for the two trim levels, the latest addition is slightly more costly with the C 350e AMG Dynamic priced at 3,350,000 baht.

"Following Mercedes-Benz's introduction of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class, which received great feedback as always, we are ready to present another new version of one of the most popular Mercedes-Benz cars in Thailand: the Mercedes-Benz C 350 e AMG Dynamic, a plug-in hybrid version that combines gasoline power with electric power from a fourth-generation battery, providing exciting driving performance in all road conditions. The new model saves energy and is more environmentally friendly because the driver can opt to drive for 100km using solely electric power," said Roland Folger, president and CEO of distributor Mercedes-Benz (Thailand).

The C 350e features a 2.0-litre petrol engine mated to an electric motor that's powered by a 25.4kWh battery. Mercedes-Benz claims a total output of 313hp and as much as 550Nm of torque from the hybrid powertrain, which is capable of reaching a top speed of 140kph in pure electric mode.

In hybrid mode, 0-100kph acceleration takes 6.1sec and the top speed is claimed at 245kph.

Charging takes approximately 30 minutes via a DC fast charger and just two hours via an AC charger.

The new C-Class comes with the "Sensual Purity" design concept and is larger than its predecessor in all dimensions, according to Mercedes-Benz.

The interior comes with several S-Class elements, including a 12.3-inch high-res digital instrument display and an 11.9-inch vertical touchscreen.

There's also the latest generation of the voiced-controlled MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) infotainment system. A fingerprint scanner is located below the central display, allowing users to log into MBUX quickly, conveniently and securely.

Simultaneously, the German luxury carmaker has also introduced the Vito 119 CDI Tourer Select, priced at 3,100,000 baht.

The 11-seat premium van comes with a chrome front grille, LED Intelligent Light, multi-spoke 17in alloy wheels as well as electrically-powered sliding doors on both sides that can be operated via the remote.

Inside, there's an Audio 30 multimedia package with a 7-inch touchscreen display that's compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo diesel with 190hp and 440Nm, mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, delivering 0-100kph acceleration in 9.6sec and a top speed of 205kph.
