Mercedes left mangled after horror crash with HGV on Scots motorway

A Mercedes-Benz has been left completely destroyed following a horror crash with an HGV on the M90. Emergency services raced to the scene, near junction three at Dunfermline, Fife, after the alarm was raised at around 1pm on Monday, November 14.

Photos taken at the crash site, which were shared on social media, show the luxury motor now a mangled wreck. The front bumper is torn apart, having taken the brunt of the impact, and the tail lights hang loose, having been ripped from the body of the vehicle.

The windscreen has also been dealt a devastating blow, with the glass cracked and scratched, while the mechanical interior of the vehicle has been left exposed.

Fife Road Policing officers attended the incident and said the state of the car was so bad that they "expected severe injuries". Thankfully, no one was hurt or required hospital treatment.

A 53-year-old man, however, has been reported in relation with alleged road traffic offences as a result of the smash.

A spokesperson for the local constabulary cautioned: "The lesson here is to pay attention and don't squeeze into a gap in lane one, especially when an HGV is there to stop you."

A Police Scotland spokesperson added: “Around 1pm on Monday, November 14, officers received a report of a two-vehicle crash on the M90 southbound near junction three. A 53-year-old man was reported in connection with road traffic offences.”
