Menzies Aviation has renewed a ground services contract with Air Canada at Heathrow Airport and won new business at Copenhagen Airport.
Air Canada has chosen Menzies to deliver passenger, ramp, cabin cleaning and lounge services at the airline’s largest airport operation internationally. With a long-term duration, the renewal is expected to see Menzies support 3,700 aircraft turns per annum, as Air Canada returns to pre-pandemic flight volumes at Heathrow.
In addition, Menzies has won a new contract to provide passenger, ramp, cabin cleaning and de-icing services for Air Canada at Copenhagen.
Heathrow and Copenhagen are the first stations to adopt the terms of a Master Services Agreement (MSA) between Air Canada and Menzies Aviation, which streamlines the contractual process.
Air Canada is a global customer for Menzies, which serves the carrier in locations across Europe, the Americas and Australia.
Miguel Gomez, executive vice president for Europe at Menzies Aviation, said: “We are proud to build on our partnership with Air Canada at Heathrow Airport and win a new contract at Copenhagen Airport. Air Canada is a global customer for Menzies and these latest awards are a testament to our teams, who deliver safe, secure and efficient services day in, day out for our customers.”
Earlier this month, the aviation logistics specialist renewed a contract with longstanding customer Icelandair, to provide ground services across four UK airports.
The three-year agreement will see Menzies provide passenger, ramp, cabin cleaning and de-icing services at Heathrow, Gatwick, Glasgow and Manchester airports.
The two companies began working together at Heathrow in late-2006 and expanded to Manchester and Glasgow in 2009, with London Gatwick following in 2016.
This followed a series of wins at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), its largest station in the Americas, with the LATAM Group, Level and MAS airlines.
Menzies secured a new contract with Level - IAG’s low-cost airline - to provide full ground services at LAX. With this new agreement, Menzies now provides complete coverage to the IAG Group of airlines at LAX, including British Airways, Iberia, Aer Lingus and now Level.
Menzies has also been awarded a contract with Mexican cargo carrier MAS to support its daily freighter flights. This win further solidifies Menzies as the preferred ramp handler for freighter aircraft at LAX.
Additionally, Menzies extended its ramp handling contract and added full passenger handling to the list of services for the Latin American airline’s twice daily flights at LAX.
John Redmond, executive vice president for the Americas at Menzies Aviation, said: “These new contracts demonstrate the trust and confidence airlines have in the ability of the Menzies team to provide safe, secure and consistent quality service.”
