Two men have admitted their part in a brawl that resulted in the fatal stabbing of a young man just days after his 18th birthday.
Mohammad Mohammadi's family donated the teen's organs after he was stabbed through the heart on August 23, 2020 during an incident outside a shopping centre in the Geelong suburb of Corio.
He underwent surgery to repair significant injuries but was declared brain dead. His life support was turned off days after the milestone birthday.
On Thursday, 19-year-old Alith Wal and 21-year-old Nyal Mainyal pleaded guilty to intentionally causing injury to Mr Mohammadi.
They also admitted intentionally using unlawful violence with each other, in circumstances that would have caused a person to be "terrified".
Wal pleaded guilty to a third charge, over his possession of methamphetamine.
Wal, from Melton, and Mainyal, for Norlane, will face a pre-sentence hearing in Victoria's Supreme Court on March 29.
Prosecutors have requested the hearing happen in Geelong, where Mr Mohammadi's family are.
Members of his family held each other and cried during an online hearing last year, when forensic pathologist Sarah Parsons described the fatal wound.
She said it was likely a single blade that went through Mr Mohammadi's rib cartilage and into his heart. He also suffered an injury to his upper leg and cuts to his armpit.
