A man in his 50s remains in hospital after being punched during a daylight brawl that resulted in four arrests.
Cheshire Police said officers were called to a pub on Albert Road in Widnes at noon on Saturday following reports of an “altercation” involving three women and a man. A 56-year-old man alleged to have been punched in the face was taken to Aintree University Hospital.
Officers made four arrests: a 47-year-old woman on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, and a 39-year-old woman, a 27-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.

The 27-year-old woman has been released with no further action, and the other three were released on conditional bail. The force has confirmed to the ECHO that the pub where the incident took place was The Premier branch of Wetherspoon.
Contrary to social media rumour, there was no reported involvement of any knife. A Cheshire Police spokeswoman said the 56-year-old man remains in a “stable condition”.
The spokeswoman said: "Officers attended and a 56-year-old man who was reportedly punched to the face was taken to Aintree hospital. He is currently in a stable condition in hospital.
"Four people were arrested. A 47-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent; a 39-year-old woman, a 27-year-old woman and a 45-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent.
"The 27-year-old woman has been released with no further action. The other three have been released on conditional bail."
