LeBron James has been called "old" by Memphis Grizzlies star Dillon Brooks, who unleashed an attack on the Los Angeles Lakers star following their spat during game two of their Play-Off series.
The Grizzlies - without Ja Morant - tied things up in their first-round series against the Lakers, winning 103-93 on Wednesday night after losing the home opener on Sunday. James' 28 points on the night wasn't enough to inspire a second-straight win for the Lakers, and he clashed with Brooks throughout the game.
Brooks is known for his animated style of play, and really got into the face of James during the second half. But he didn't leave his differences out on the court, as he launching a blistering attack on the Lakers hero in the post-game locker room interviews.
The ongoing battle between Brooks and James made for Hollywood viewing on Wednesday night, as the Grizzlies star constantly pushed his buttons. From celebrating in his face to staring him down after landing a three-pointer, Brooks did all that he could to anger his opponent.
There aren't many players more respected in NBA history than James, but Brooks isn't interested in his legacy as he's clearly trying to rattle the Lakers star during what was expected, and is turning out, to be a tight series. After the game, Brooks took aim at James again after there was some backlash about his actions towards the four-time NBA champion.
"I don't care, he's old," Brooks said. "You know what I mean? I was expecting him to do that game four, game five.
"He wanted to say something when I got my fourth foul, he should've been saying that earlier on. I poke bears, I don’t respect no one until they come and give me 40. I pride myself on what I do."
James scored more points than anyone on the night, and also managed 12 rebounds and three assists. Brooks on the other hand only scored 12 points, but his defensive work was on point as the Grizzlies levelled the series.
The action switches to Los Angeles for games three and four, with the Lakers hosting the Grizzlies on Saturday and Monday night before the contest heads back to Memphis once more. It's likely that the pair could clash again, and it could be a series steeped in controversy if neither player back down.
James certainly won't be intimidated by Brooks or any other opponent for that matter, and the Grizzlies star isn't bothered by the stature of one of the greatest of all-time. Their interactions could be one to watch again on Saturday, and there's a feeling that this battle is far from over.
