Arsenal have been linked with a January transfer for Barcelona forward Memphis Depay, with the Dutchman's contract up in the summer of 2023. The arrivals of Robert Lewandowski and Raphinha along with injuries have seen Depay pushed out of the starting XI and he could leave Spain in next month's window.
Chelsea are also lining up a potential move for the 28-year-old following the claims he could be available on a cut-price deal. Depay played a significant role in the Netherlands World Cup campaign, scoring in the last-16 win against USA.
The former Manchester United forward was linked with an exit in the summer but confirmed he was staying at the Camp Nou, however that situation may have changed with the emergence of more clubs looking to sign Depay

'No negotiations' for Depay
Although a number of clubs including Arsenal, Chelsea and Man United are said to be interested in Depay, no club has entered formal negotiations over a possible January transfer as of yet.
“At the moment, there are no negotiations ongoing between Depay and any other club. It could be a great opportunity for many clubs, for sure; but Barca have to decide if they want to sell Memphis or not," Fabrizio Romano said in his CaughtOffside Substack column.
Arsenal eyeing 'low offer'
Following the injury to Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal may ramp up their transfer pursuit of Depay with the knowledge he could be available in January without Edu needing to part ways with significant funds.
Tutto Juve report that the Netherlands international is the striker that ‘fits best’ since his profile is similar to the Brazilian, and he has ‘a lot of mobility’ and ‘great sense’ to score goals.
Barcelona chief claim
Arsenal were dealt a blow in their bid to sign Depay following comments made by Barcelona chief Jordi Cruyff on a potential January departure for Depay.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, he said: "Why should we sell Depay in January if it’s difficult to sign new players because of Financial Fair Play? He's always been a great professional. He can be really helpful."
With Depay's contract expiring in June, Cruyff also gave a response to a possible departure at the end of the current campaign, stating: "We will see in the next months."
