Dyson is famous for being one of the biggest and best home appliance brands out there, creating innovative, smart home tech, but the usually eyewatering prices can put them out of reach for many. This is why it's financially smart to grab one of their vacuums, air purifiers and hair care products when the sales come around.
As H&G's home tech editor, I can confirm the best Dyson vacuums are worth the hype. My team of expert reviewers and I have spent months testing 14 appliances from Dyson's line-up at home and in our test center so we know their products inside out. I've even visited their engineering labs in Malmesbury, UK to really get under the bonnet of their engineering and understand what features are worth the spend, and which are not.
All of this to say, I have a Dyson vacuum at home myself and wouldn't pick another. Below I've collated links to every site where you can find Dyson deals, with advice on what Dyson goods to look for and how to maximize savings like a pro.

Our favorite Dyson products
Whenever the sales come around, these are the Dyson products I look out for. They've excelled in our tests and provide some of the most useful features in the market. But because of their retail price, I always recommend waiting until they're on offer to buy one (luckily, they often are).
Best ever
This is the best vacuum cleaner we've ever tested at H&G, and its hefty price certainly reflects that. The Gen5detect works exceptionally well across every floor type with an impressive 262 air watts. It even rivals the power of the big, corded upright vacuums.
Our reviewer has tested more than 100 vacuums and the Dyson Gen5detect is better than all of them, thanks to its best-in-class (and responsive) suction power, an impressive 70-minute runtime, and a green laser that reveals invisible dust.
It also comes with a wealth of attachments for cleaning carpets, hard floors, upholstery and anything above your head, as well as making light work of pet hair, even digging it out from deep within the carpet fibers.

Best for pet hair
The Dyson V15 Detect was once our best-on-test vacuum cleaner until the Gen5detect came along. That being said, as it's around $300 cheaper, this is the vacuum I recommend to people as the best money can buy (as I just can't justify recommending a $1,000 vacuum).
The V15 Detect is part of the same range as the Gen5detect and V12 Detect Slim, and they all share the same core features: the green laser to illuminate hidden dust, the Piezo dust sensor and automatic, responsive suction. The only real difference is slight variations in suction power and battery life.
The V15 Detect excels on all floor types, and effortlessly vacuumed every visible strand of hair on test while even reviving a dog bed to its original color.

Editor's choice
The smaller, lighter version of the best-on-test Gen5detect and V15 Detect, the V12 Detect Slim is perfect if you're looking to save money but still want this market-leading vacuum tech. Or, if your home is smaller or made of mostly hard floors, this should really be all you need.
This is the vacuum cleaner I use in my own home. Sure, it isn't quite as powerful as the other Dyson Detect vacuums, but it's still incredibly capable across all floors and all debris types (including hair), and it's more powerful than every other I've tested.
With the same core features as the Gen5detect and V15 Detect, just in a smaller design, the V12 Detect Slim just needs to be emptied more often. If you're happy to make that sacrifice, then you can save yourself a bit of money.

Best upright
The latest, and strongest, upright vacuum in Dyson's lineup, the Ball Animal 3 is an absolute powerhouse that will effectively clean any mess you throw at it. On test, we learned that it was designed for homes that need the extra power, and is more than capable for all of them.
This upright vacuum is bigger and bulkier than a cordless stick, but that's what you need in a home full of carpets. Offering more serious cleaning power and a wide floorhead, the Ball Animal 3 is perfect for busy, messy households with kids, pets, or both.

Budget pick
If you're looking for strong suction power but you're on a budget, the V8 is the one to go for. It's surprising to see a Dyson vacuum selling for less than $400 but that's around the average price for a Dyson V8, and even less when you find it on sale.
It doesn't have the smart features of the more expensive vacuums in this guide, but they're not essential to give your home a proper clean. This more basic cordless vacuum still has the powerful suction and ease-of-use you'd expect from a Dyson, with strong performance across carpets and hard floors.

Best purifier
This air purifier purifies the air, manages humidity levels, and detects and destroys formaldehyde, a toxic substance found in home goods and household products.
The open, curved design of the purifier helps to maximize airflow, pulling in air from all corners of the room to ensure every airborne particle is captures. And when you don't want to feel the breeze, you can reverse the airflow so that it disperses behind the machine,
It's a pricey way to achieve perfect air quality at home, so I'd only really recommend it with a discount.

Deal tips and tricks
I've covered every major sale event since 2021, and in that time I've learned how to find the best deals out there, and how to spot when they're genuinely a good deal. During big sale events like Black Friday (typically end of Nov) and Prime Day (both in July and October), brands will show off as many discounts as possible while competing to offer the lowest prices or the biggest reductions. That means, on occasion, they'll increase the price before the event so that it looks like a better offer on the day.
To find out whether I'm really seeing a good deal, I use two sites: Honey and CamelCamelCamel.
Honey is a price comparison tool that you can install as an extension (but you don't have to). When viewing a product, it'll show its availability on other sites and you where you can get it cheapest. You're also able to view price history up to the previous 120 days, so you can see whether any sites have bumped the price up beforehand to exaggerate how good the discount is. If you're looking at a Dyson vacuum that's the cheapest it's been in the past 120 days, it's probably a good time to buy it.
CamelCamelCamel works similarly but exclusively for Amazon. You can enter any Amazon product by URL or product name, and it'll show you its price history since being added to Amazon. This is great for Dyson products as you can actually see whether it's the lowest price ever, then you know you're getting the best deal yet (although, it's still worth using Honey to check it isn't cheaper elsewhere).
Top tip: Dyson are culprits for releasing different versions of each product (the V15 Detect Plus and the V15 Detect Absolute, for example), so when consulting Honey or Camel make sure you've checked each variation for the best price. Each variation comes with different attachments, so it's also a good idea to check you're getting one that's suited to your home.
And more generally, before heading into the big sales like Black Friday – it's smart to do your research first. Knowing what you want beforehand will save you from becoming blinded by the flashy deals on Dyson goods you might not need, and will help you grab what's right for you before it's sold out.
When's a good time to get a Dyson deal?
As somebody who writes almost-exclusively about vacuums, I can confirm that Dyson vacuums are discounted quite often. Whether it's a sale period or not, I'm regularly seeing some of their best models on offer, sometimes at some of their best prices yet. For this reason, I'd never recommend buying a Dyson at full price.
A benefit of having countless online stores is that they're often competing with each other for the lowest prices, and if you know how to look, you can find a good Dyson deal outside of the big sales. That being said, there's no denying what the sale seasons can bring, especially in terms of choice.
Boxing Day and New Year's Day Dyson deals
After Christmas is another great time to look out for a cheap Dyson. Just like we see during September to December, manufacturers and retailers will still be clearing old stock come January. So, lookout for any New Year's, after Christmas, or winter sales from Dyson or from any retailer that stocks their goods.
Amazon Prime Day Dyson deals
Prime Day is a pretty reliable time to find a discounted Dyson product, whether you're looking for vacuums, purifiers or hair goods. Amazon has such a wide range of products that you'll typically find one of their bests on offer, and usually with a sizable discount.
If looking during Prime Day however, make sure to check elsewhere. Other retailers like Walmart and Target will launch competing sales, as well as Dyson themselves.
Don't forget: since 2022 there are now two Prime Days a year, one in July and one in October.
Labor Day Dyson deals
Around the Labor Day weekend in September, we see discounts from all the major retailers every year. Dyson launched a Labor Day sale in 2024 and it included some of our favorite vacuums. If you missed the first Prime Day and can't wait until the second, this is a great chance to grab a Dyson deal.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday Dyson deals
It's the obvious time of year to invest in a new appliance as retailers and the brands themselves launch site-wide sales. What started as a single-day sale has now turn into an event that lasts for weeks, as we've seen this year with Dyson launching their own Black Friday sale almost a month before the day.
I've been covering deals and sale events for over three years now. While Black Friday and Cyber Monday typically has the biggest selection of offers, it's not necessarily where you'll find the biggest reductions in price. Other events like Amazon Prime Day and Labor Day have given us some pretty impressive discounts too, and even outside of sale periods they pop up at random times.
But more generally, the September to December period is a great time to keep a lookout. It's around this time that manufacturers and retailers tend to clear old stock to make room for new releases, so will be selling at reduced prices.
Which Dyson vacuum is best for me?
We have tested dozens of Dyson vacuums here at Homes & Gardens and can safely say there is a model for everyone. Whether you're looking for a powerful design that can deal with pet hair, or a more lightweight model that can be easily stored, you are definitely not short on variety.
Be sure to read through our Dyson reviews (as linked above) and our best vacuum guides for inspiration, expert guidance and advice on choosing the right Dyson vacuum. If you're a pet owner, you should be considering one of the best vacuums for pet hair to make sure your appliance does what it should for your particular household needs and doesn't fall down at the first hurdle.
