Members of the Royal Family who are missing from walking up the Royal Mile today

A number of royals are set to be missing from walking up the Royal Mile today.

Huge crowds are expected to line the streets as the Queen’s coffin is taken from the Palace of Holyroodhouse at 2.35pm in a procession to St Giles’ Cathedral, where it will be carried inside at 2.55pm. The King and Queen Consort, with members of the royal family, will follow the procession on foot before attending a service of reflection for the life of the Queen in the cathedral at 3pm.

However not all members of the royal family will be in attendance. The new Prince of Wales and his brother the Duke of Sussex will not take part in the procession that will follow the Queen's coffin.

While William, Harry and their wives will be missing from the event, the Queen's children will take the lead. Charles will be joined by the Princess Royal, Anne, Earl of Wessex, Prince Edward, and Duke of York, Prince Andrew.

The royal siblings will walk in a line behind the hearse carrying their mother's coffin and a few steps behind will by Anne's husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence. Following in a car will be the Queen Consort Camilla and the Countess of Wessex, Sophie.

Members of the public will be able to view the Queen’s coffin in Edinburgh from 5pm. A queuing system will be in place with security checks and restrictions on mobile phones will apply. Photography and recording is strictly prohibited.
