Born in 1941, Hyland is an Australian Racing Hall of Fame inductee who won the Melbourne Cup on What A Nuisance in 1985. During his illustrious career, Hyland won what is referred to as racing's grand slam - Melbourne Cup on What A Nuisance, Caulfield Cup on Affinity, Golden Slipper on Vain and W.S. Cox Plate on Star Affair.

After retiring as a jockey, Hyland turned his hand to training and had an equally successful career, including winning VRC Oaks as both a jockey and a trainer.

Hyland Farm is set on 42.63ha of carefully maintained pastures with eight fenced paddocks. The four-bedroom, three-bathroom property was designed by Mornington-based design studio Vibe Design Group.

The modern farmhouse features a large, light-filled kitchen with butler's pantry, generous living spaces and sweeping views of Bunyip State Park. A stone wall creates a feature in the living room and wall-to-wall windows allow sunshine and fresh air to permeate the home.

The bedrooms provide ample space and views of the lush natural surroundings.

The outdoor areas include a sparkling pool and spa, large sundeck, alfresco dining area, two large machinery sheds, water tanks and a three car garage.

There are also extensive plans for stables, offering future buyers further infrastructure potential.

The sale is being managed by Rob Curtain, managing director of Peninsula Sotheby's International Realty, alongside senior sales associate, James Hallahan.

Of the listing Hallahan said it was a unique property due to the "historic significance and lifestyle potential moving forward."

"There's about 31 acres that's in the urban growth zone, which is a developable area for a potential buyer," said Hallahan. "But also the 101 acres it offers is just a beautiful historic farm with a name that's synonymous with racing.

"It feels like you're in a world of your own when you're driving up there."
