Former First Lady Melania Trump has retaliated against media outlets criticizing her for past nude photos.

In a short promotional video for her upcoming memoir posted to both the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram on Wednesday, Trump defends her own past nude modeling work, asking why the media has chosen to "scrutinize [her] celebration of the human form."

"Are we no longer able to appreciate the beauty of the human body?" Trump questions in the 45-second video. "We should honor our bodies and embrace the timeless tradition of using art as a powerful means of self expression."

In 2016, the New York Post published multiple nude photos of Trump, some of which had never been published before, taken in 1995, when she was 25.

When asked to comment, Donald Trump had stated that the photos had been taken for a (now defunct) European magazine before he knew the Slovenian model. He also stated that "pictures like this are very fashionable and common."

"Throughout history, master artists have revered the human shape, evoking profound emotions and admiration." Melania Trump continued in the video.

The video displayed various iconic works of art featuring human bodies in the nude, as Trump's voiceover in the background encouraged viewers to "embrace the timeless tradition of using art as a powerful means of self-expression."

Melania Trump's memoir is set to be released on Oct. 8, per Skyhorse Publishing.
