Braveheart star Mel Gibson tucked into a curry on his first visit to Scotland in almost 30 years.
After arriving at Glasgow Airport in a private jet from Budapest, he headed straight for Mr Singh’s, near Charing Cross.
The Indian restaurant is popular for visiting celebrities and former Rangers players and it has its own exclusive VIP area.
On his arrival with his entourage, the Australian was greeted by the owner Satty Singh.
It’s not known what Gibson had to eat but the restaurant specialises in Indian versions of Scottish dishes including haggis pakora and mince and tatties curry.
Gibson was seen laughing with and embracing a member of staff in the street.
Satty last night confirmed that Gibson had dined in his restaurant on Friday.
But he declined to give any further details of the actor’s evening.
It is understood, though, that the booking was made at short notice.
Gibson, who played William Wallace in the hit movie, hasn’t been in Scotland since the film’s premiere was held at Stirling Castle in 1995.
The 66-year-old is taking part in a live show tonight in Glasgow at the city’s DoubleTree by Hilton hotel, next to Glasgow Central Station, called an “Experience with Mel Gibson”.
The black-tie dinner costs upwards of £100 a ticket, plus £300 to get a picture with the Hollywood star.
Organisers have promised he will share untold stories as part of the all-access show.
Braveheart grossed more than £200million at the box office and won five Academy Awards, including Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best Picture.
In 2020, before the 25th anniversary of the film’s release, Gibson described it as his toughest-ever movie.
Braveheart made Gibson into one of Hollywood’s biggest stars at the time.
