Mekhi Becton is getting the opportunity to earn the starting job at right tackle as he will be the starter there for Saturday’s preseason finale against the New York Giants, per Connor Hughes of SNY.

This means Becton will get the starter reps he has earned this week which also means he will work with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who will also start against the Giants.
Becton had been running as the second-team left tackle throughout camp and was originally reluctant to play right tackle. Eventually, he warmed up to the idea and played well there last week against the Buccaneers, putting him in a position to move to the top of the depth chart.
“We’re giving him a run to see what he does,” head coach Robert Saleh said Tuesday, adding Becton is in much better shape.
With Duane Brown also expected back this week, the Jets are moving closer to having their true starting line on the field. Alijah Vera-Tucker and Laken Tomlinson have been out but will be available for Saturday as well, so we could in fact see the full starting line this weekend.
If things go according to plan, the front line should go back to being a strength instead of a weakness for the Jets in a season full of expectations.
