Mehrdad Ghodoussi hails Newcastle's warrior spirit as Champions League football draws near

Newcastle United co-owner Mehrdad Ghodoussi has hailed Eddie Howe's warriors after an emphatic win over European hopefuls Brighton & Hove Albion. The Magpies ran out 4-1 winners to blow the Gulls away at St. James' Park.

Roberto De Zerbi's side arrived at St. James' Park full of swagger having beaten Arsenal 3-0 at the Emirates. However, it was the Toon who raced out the blocks and they could have won by a greater margin had it not been for Jason Steele in the Brighton goal.

The former Sunderland shot stopper pulled off a number of great saves to deny the hosts. An own goal from Deniz Undav a Dan Burn header, Callum Wilson and Bruno Guimaraes strikes wrapped up all three points.

The result leaves the Toon just one win away from guaranteed Champions League football at St. James' Park next season. For the first time in two decades, Newcastle will compete against Europe's elite clubs if they beat the Foxes on home soil on Monday night.

Ghodoussi has been vocal with his support on social media throughout the entire campaign and with the Magpies closing in on the top-four, he's expressed his love for the current group of players. He tweeted: "I love each and everyone one of them."
