Mehrdad Ghodoussi delivers one-word verdict on latest Newcastle team photo after Chelsea win

Mehrdad Ghodoussi has labelled the Newcastle United squad as 'special' after the Magpies ground out a home win over Chelsea. Joe Willock scored the only goal of the game at St James' Park as Eddie Howe's side moved back into third position ahead of the World Cup break.

Newcastle recorded their fifth straight victory in the Premier League on Saturday evening, days after needing a penalty shootout to book their place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup. Chelsea looked to frustrate the in-form hosts, and tensions spilled over after the full-time whistle as United opened up a nine-point gap over the visitors.

Howe has been reluctant to publicly outline any targets for his first full season in charge, but the Magpies have lost only once so far this season and have now beaten their second so-called 'Big Six' rival. The latest victory was followed by the now customary team photo from the dressing room, with staff and players celebrating the three points.

It has become a familiar post-match tradition for the Magpies in recent weeks, and co-owner Ghodoussi was quick to respond to the latest shot. He shared the latest image with a tweet which simply read 'special', and it was a message that was shared by the Toon Army.

One fan responded: "Thank you from the bottom of my heart! Our owners, manager, players, in fact everyone associated to our club is amazing!"

Another supporter commented: "I can't thank you, Amanda and Jamie enough. Life is good."
