Bangladesh spinner Mehidy Hasan had to be stretchered off the field during his side's second Test against South Africa after losing sight of the ball and getting hit in the stomach while fielding.
Off just the second ball of South Africa's second innings, opener Sarel Erwee played a full-blooded cut shot off seamer Ebadot Hossain which went in the air towards Hasan at backward point. However, the 24-year-old did not see the ball at all and stood motionless, staring away from the ball as it came towards him.
Hasan was hit directly in the chest by the ball and immediately fell to the floor clutching his stomach. A stretcher was ultimately brought on to help him off the field so he could receive treatment.
Luckily, Hasan was able to return to the field ahead of the fourth over and he promptly bowled the seventh over, before taking 2-34 from a 9.5 over spell. However, South Africa comprehensively won the Test by 332 runs to wrap up a dominant series victory.
Having scored 453 in their first innings, the hosts bowled Bangladesh out for 217. They then declared on 176-6 in their second innings, leaving the visitors needing an improbable 413 runs to win.
However, Bangladesh crumbled to a heavy defeat in just 23.3 overs, getting bowled out for 80 by South Africa spinners Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer. Maharaj picked up 7-40 from while Harmer took 3-34, with no other player bowling a single delivery during the innings.
It was just the 29th time an innings has been completed in a Test match without a bowling change, a feat South Africa also achieved in the first Test. The game was also notable as it saw the first ever coronavirus substitutes introduced in international cricket.
Both Erwee and Wiaan Mulder tested positive for the virus ahead of day four and were replaced by debutant Khaya Zondo and Glenton Stuurman. Reflecting on the victory, South Africa captain Dean Elgar said: "We've had an extremely successful summer, not just as a Test side but as a cricketing nation.
"I think we are on the right path, doing things in the correct way. I am extremely proud of the Test summer we've had and the depth we've shown with regards to our selection pool. I am extremely proud of the group of players that we fielded."
