Meghan will make bid to relaunch her career after King's coronation, say experts

Meghan Markle is planning to relaunch her career after the coronation, royal experts have said.

On Thursday, the palace announced that the Duchess of Sussex will stay in California with her children Archie and Lilibet.

It added that it was pleased to announce that Prince Harry will be there on May 6 for the historic event.

Harry, who laid bare his troubled relationship with the royal family in his controversial Netflix documentary and autobiography Spare, will be alongside other family members including his estranged brother Prince William and wife Kate.

The coronation also coincides with Archie's birthday and is cited as one reason why Meghan has chosen to stay home.

Royal experts say that Meghan is waiting until after the coronation to relaunch her career after she and Harry stepped back from their roles in 2020.

Brand and culture expert Nick Ede told MailOnline Meghan said: "I think once the Coronation is over and the eyes of the world are off the king and Prince Harry then Meghan will launch a new initiative.

"I suspect she will have been working on some new projects that will enable her to stand alone rather than use Prince Harry."

PR guru Mark Borkowski added: "She's kept her head down for some time."

He continued: "The fact that she is not there is a statement that the UK does not particularly engage with her and looks like: 'Poor me'.

"But the Meghan and Harry story are way beyond the boundaries of Britain and the Commonwealth.

"There will definitely be a relaunch by Meghan. It is impossible for them to stay quiet."

It comes at the same time that Meghan has successfully been given a trademark to relaunch her lifestyle website The Tig, The Sun Online reports.

Its logo has a handwritten Tig and a full stop at the end.

Meghan shut the blog down after she got engaged to Prince Harry in 2017.

At the time it is thought she was earning up to £60,000-a-year through advertising.

On Thursday, the Palace said in a statement: "Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that the Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May.

"The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet."

Archewell, Harry and Meghan’s charitable foundation, issued a nearly identical statement to Buckingham Palace confirming the duke will join guests at the coronation.

A spokesperson said: "The Duke of Sussex will attend the coronation service at Westminster Abbey on May 6th. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet."
