Trainor shared the story behind the collaboration during an interview, revealing that she initially created the song before sending it to T-Pain, who took some time to respond. Eventually, T-Pain expressed his admiration for the track and surprised Trainor on her 30th birthday by delivering the verse he had promised.
Being a long-time fan of T-Pain, Trainor had been vocal about her admiration for him in various interviews over the years. The duo finally connected on social media, leading to their eventual collaboration on 'Been Like This.'
To show her appreciation, Trainor placed a heartfelt message in the newspaper, thanking T-Pain for his influence on her music career and the industry as a whole. T-Pain, in turn, shared his excitement on TikTok, calling Trainor's gesture 'the craziest s--- that anybody's ever done.'
Trainor also hinted at an upcoming music video for 'Been Like This,' where fans will witness T-Pain's impressive dancing skills. The track will be featured on Trainor's album, Timeless, set for release on June 14, followed by The Timeless Tour in September with special guests.
