Meghan Markle's UK popularity at all-time low in huge blow for Duchess

Meghan Markle's popularity in the United Kingdom is at an all-time low according to a new opinion poll.

According to the poll, approximately seven out of 10 Britons hold the Duchess of Sussex in negative regard.

The 41-year-old’s net favourability with the British public plummeted to a record low of -47 per cent.

The latest opinion poll marks Meghan’s lowest rating since YouGov began recording her favourability in 2017.

A whopping 68 per cent hold a negative view of the Duchess and just 21 per cent see her favourably, the pollster’s latest survey of 2,014 people has revealed.

Prince Harry’s favourability witnessed a modest two per cent drop to -36 per cent compared to -34 per cent in April.

However, the father-of-two’s standing with the British public has seemingly made a come back since January when he released his Megxit memoir Spare.

The Duke of Sussex’s favourability rating dropped to -44 per cent during the first month of 2023.

Princess Anne came out on top as the most popular member of the Royal Family, with her net favourability standing at 60 per cent.

King Charles’ favourability slumped to 32 per cent but reached 48 per cent when he succeeded Queen Elizabeth II last September.

The monarch also benefited from a Coronation bounce of six per cent.

Queen Camilla failed to share in the Coronation glory, with her net favourability suffering a five-point hit at 4 per cent.

The figure remains higher than when YouGov started recording Camilla’s popularity in 2011.

It stood at -15 per cent twelve years ago.

Prince William and Princess Kate have both seen slight bumps in approval, with the couple registering net favourability of 57 per cent and 59 per cent respectively.

YouGov also revealed the institution of the monarchy, in general, has improved to 25 per cent since before the Coronation. It stood at 19 per cent in April.
