Meghan Markle's take on popular British beverage Pimm's set to divide the nation

Meghan Markle's take on the popular British drink often enjoyed at Wimbledon is set to divide the nation - but what do you think about the Duchess' spin on Pimm's?

Before Meghan fell in love with Prince Harry and then married into the British Royal Family, the now-Duchess was an actress in Suits and also ran a blog called The Tig. Meghan's website was her outlet and a way of expressing herself while sharing fashion, beauty and lifestyle tips with her fans and followers.

Although Meghan's blog - The Tig - is now closed, a dedicated website about Meghan, which is titled Meghan's Mirror, often shares old content from the Duchess' old blog. In 2018 the website shared Meghan's Signature Tig Cup - a fresh way of making the iconic Pimm's beverage.

In the original blog post, Meghan wrote: "Sun kissed afternoons, cocktail in hand, surrounded by nothing but the laughter of your closest mates, an Otis Redding playlist, and the whistling breeze of the wind. I’m talking about perfection, people. The perfection that comes with summertime."

She added that "sometimes the day calls for a cocktail" before introducing "The TIG Cup". She went on: "Having a love of all things Brit, I wanted to do a twist on their signature Pimm’s Cup. Using cues from the season, with fresh and vibrant farmers’ market ingredients, this drink will whet your whistle and keep you cool during those long summer days turned nights. This is a guaranteed crowd pleaser, and a nod to the fresh picked flavors of the season. Cheers!"

But what makes it any different? Well, Meghan's TIG Cup features a few ingredients some Brits might not agree with.

As well as the classic fresh mint and cucumber featured in a glass or pitcher of Pimm's Meghan also adds radish and celery to make her drink a little more vibrant. In her blog post she lists the ingredients as: "Fresh mint, fresh ribbons of cucumber, grapefruit rind, shavings of radish, thin stalks of celery, ice, lime, your favourite gin, soda water, tonic water and Maraschino cherry liquer."

One reader wasn't impressed and was annoyed enough to take to the comments on Meghan's Mirror to pen: "Yeah, no. A Pimm’s Cup is LITERALLY Pimm’s and lemonade (which in Britain is 7-Up or Sprite) and some cucumber and strawberries (or whatever you have on hand). This is just extra for the sake of being extra. A Pimm’s Cup is my favourite drink ever, there’s no need to 'to a twist' on it. It’s easy enough to make as it is."
