Actor Billy Miller’s cause of death has been revealed, after his passing aged 43.
The US star, who appeared in Suits alongside Meghan Markle, died by suicide on Friday (September 15), his mother Patricia Miller has confirmed.
In a statement, Miller’s grief-stricken mum revealed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar depression in the years prior to his death before also thanking his fans for an “overwhelming amount of love, prayers and condolences”.
She told Soap Opera Digest: “He fought a long, hard, valiant battle with bipolar depression for years. He did everything he could to control the disease.
“He loved his family, his friends and his fans but in the end the disease won the fight, and he surrendered his life. The other causes of death being told are not true. I wish they were but they just aren’t.”
She concluded: “We all loved him so much and are desperately trying to deal with our loss. I will have nothing further to say. Thanks for the love and support.”
Tributes have been pouring in for Miller after news of his death came to light.
Suits co-creator Aaron Korsh took to X, formerly known as Twitter, on Sunday and wrote, “Very sad news for the entire Suits family.
“I flew home once with Billy. We had a great time, bonding over the five-hour flight, which seemed like it was over in minutes. A funny, smart, kind, gentle man.”
Gabriel Macht, who played Miller’s on-screen brother on Suits, also paid tribute to him, writing on X: “RIP my TV bro Billy Miller.
“I am touched by your thoughtfulness, your authentic, honest approach to your art, your kind nature and big smile that lit us all.
“May your memory always be a blessing to your mother, your sister and her children. And to so many you’ve touched.”
The Duchess of Sussex, who played Rachel Zane in Suits, is yet to speak out on Miller death.
Markle starred opposite Miller, who portrayed Marcus Specter on the beloved series from 2015 until 2019, in five episodes.
Aside from Suits, Miller starred in CSI: NY, soap operas All My Children, General Hospital and The Young and the Restless, in which he received three Daytime Emmys for his portrayal of Billy Abbott.
Previously Miller’s manager confirmed he passed away on Friday, September 15, in Austin, Texas.
