Meghan Markle insists she is not an influencer as she prepares to launch new TV show and lifestyle brand

Meghan Markle says she doesn’t consider herself an influencer despite having a sizeable following online and preparing to launch a new Netflix show and lifestyle brand.

The 43-year-old Duchess of Sussex’s eight-part series With Love, Meghan, will drop on the streaming giant on Tuesday along with her new merchandise brand As Ever.

Before meeting future husband Prince Harry, Markle ran lifestyle blog The Tig, which focused on food, travel and well-being.

After she and Harry got serious, she gave up The Tig in 2017 and quit social media altogether following their marriage in 2018.

When they decided to step back as senior royals in 2020 and move to her native America, she began working on rebuilding a presence online, including over 2million followers on Instagram.

While in most peoples books this would indeed make her an influencer, she’s adamant that she’s anything but.

In what is being billed as her “most intimate interview in years”, the mum-of-two told People magazine: “I see myself as an entrepreneur and a female founder”.

Adding: “if the brand ends up influential, then that’s great.”

The former Suits actress’ show will see her sharing three of her biggest passions with viewers - cooking, crafting and gardening.

Although her other half only features briefly in the final episode, he is reported to have regularly visited her on the set and she says him watching her had a visible effect on him.

She explained to the US publication: “My husband met me when I had The Tig, and I see this spark in his eye when he sees me doing the thing that I was doing when he first met me.”

Elsewhere, Markle is also gearing up for the release of her new podcast this spring with Lemonada Media this spring.
