Meghan Markle 'hated' transition to member of Royal Family from being 'global superstar'

Meghan Markle was reportedly "hugely disappointed" with life in the Royal Family and struggled to adjust to the new set of rules that came with her position.

The Duchess of Sussex, 41, is thought to have "hated" being told what she could do and had a "great divide" between what she expected of royal life and the reality.

Royal biographer Tom Quinn said Meghan had been "dazzled" by the prospect of becoming a Princess, but was less keen when she realised her life would be dictated by the royal household.

In his new book Gilded Youth, Tom claims to have spoken to a Kensington Palace staffer who "remembered Meghan well".

The insider told him Meghan felt "disappointed" going from a "global superstar" to someone who was told "what she could and could not do".

Another insider told the biographer that Meghan found she was "never first in the pecking order".

The actress has previously spoken out about her experience of joining the Royal Family and said she struggled to adjust due to a lack of preparation.

Speaking in the popular Netflix show Harry & Meghan, she said there was "no class" she could have attended for prospective family members.

She also said there had been no one to teach her how to sit, when to curtsy and what type of hat to wear.

Prince Harry also appeared in the docu-series and admitted he had struggled to prepare Meghan for royal life.

He said his wife had "thought it was a joke" when he checked if she knew how to curtsy ahead of her first meeting with Queen Elizabeth II.

"How do you explain that you bow to your grandmother and that you would need to curtsy? Especially to an American," the 38-year-old said.

Meghan and Harry announced they were stepping back from the Royal Family in January 2020 and have since relocated to America.

The couple were recently evicted from Frogmore Cottage by King Charles III.

The King was said to have made the decision to remove them from the Windsor property as there has been no thaw in their relationship with the Royal Family.

A spokesperson for the couple said: "We can confirm The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have been requested to vacate their residence at Frogmore Cottage."
