Meghan Markle 'doesn't have a brand and nothing is going anywhere for her', expert says

Meghan Markle does not have a brand and is constantly "grasping" at the latest popular cause, a royal expert said.

Author Tina Brown, who wrote The Palace Papers, said "nothing is going anywhere" for Meghan.

However, Ms Brown said the future is brighter for Prince Harry thanks to his involvement in the Invictus Games.

She said the games for injured veterans should become the Duke of Sussex's brand.

Speaking to the Washington Post Live, Ms Brown said: "Meghan doesn't really have a brand... she is sort of grasping somewhat at, you know, whatever is the kind of Twitter caring of the moment.

"It's, you know, vaccinations, it's Ukraine, it's women's rights, it's hey, my 40th birthday, let's have a mentoring scheme. Nothing is really going anywhere for Meghan.

"Harry is in a much better spot because he brilliantly started this Invictus Games and that's what his brand should be."

The royal couple have signed multi-million dollar deals with the likes of Netflix and Spotify - but so far have released little content.

Ms Brown warned that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex will be expected to ''deliver hits" as part of their deals.

However, the author added that she thinks Harry will want to return to the UK in the future to "serve his country".

Appearing on New York Times podcast Sway, she said: "I think that Harry is going to want to come back when the Queen dies to serve his country.

"And I think they will find a way to reel him in.

"And it’s possible that Meghan - maybe they will have a commuter arrangement. I don’t know. I don’t see Meghan ever wanting to go back. She disliked England."

In the same interview, Brown said Harry and Meghan leaving the Firm was a disaster for both them and the royals.

She argued that the pair had made some "bad choices" and could have left the Royal Family on far better terms if they weren't both "hotheaded".

Brown added: "I actually think there is a Harry-shaped hole in the royal family now. And Harry was beloved, actually, by the British people. And people adored Meghan when she came into the mix.

"So it was actually very, very sad for everybody that it went so wrong because they actually need Harry and Meghan now. You should see, the Queen is failing, and she’s very frail.

"They kind of need Harry and Meghan to bring that star power and to be on the balcony at the Jubilee. We have to have a royal family up there. We can’t have Andrew up there."

Brown's book The Palace Papers contains countless shocking allegations about the Queen and the rest of the royal family.

It covers everything from Prince Charles's unusual bathroom demands and requests that his shoelaces are ironed, to insight into the Duchess of Cambridge's difficult relationship with her sister-in-law, Meghan.
