Meghan Markle and Prince Harry would be put 'at the top' if they bagged major award win

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry could see themselves placed at "the top of their category" if they win a major award, according to a showbiz expert.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex would have "money turning over" if they won an Emmy Award or an Oscar for their work with Netflix. The couple signed a $98million (£77million) deal with the streaming service after stepping away from the Royal Family in 2020.

So far, their explosive docuseries has gone down a storm with audiences, quickly becoming Netflix's most-watched documentary. Harry is now thought to be working on a project with Netflix which will see him return to Africa.

Media commentator Mark Boardman believes Harry and Meghan's TV work will "bring interest" their way, especially if they start taking home top awards.

"The US has always been fascinated with the Royal Family. An Emmy Award win would definitely rejuvenate interest in Harry and Meghan for all of the right reasons," he said.

Speaking to The Daily Express US, Mark said winning an award such as an Emmy or an Oscar "puts you at the top of your category" while also "bringing interest your way".

The entertainment expert said the team behind Meghan and Harry's documentary would "feel like it's been worthwhile" if they were recognised with an award.

"Netflix would milk this to the hills and in terms of their American audience, at last, people may start to take Harry and Meghan seriously," he added.

Mark believes winning a top award would give Meghan and Harry news coverage if they wanted it, but would also allow them breathing space "to decide what they do next

He also said money would be "turning over" for the couple as they would be able to make even more brand deals and partnerships.

There had been rumours that Meghan and Harry's Netflix partnership was coming to an end, however, a spokesperson denied the rumours and said they have a strong connection with the Sussexes.

"The bond with Archewell Productions is one we deeply value. Harry & Meghan launched as Netflix's most spectacular documentary debut to date," a Netflix spokesperson said.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, they added: "Our exciting journey with them isn't ending anytime soon.

"We're currently collaborating on numerous projects, including the much-anticipated documentary series Heart of Invictus."
