Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's controversial Netflix documentary DELAYED

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's controversial Netflix documentary has been delayed, according to reports.

The streaming giant has faced backlash over the upcoming season of The Crown, while it has been reported the Duke and Duchess of Sussex wanted to make edits to their programme following the Queen’s death.

Now respected US website Deadline has said the expected December airing of the couple’s documentary has been pushed back into next year.

“They’re rattled at Netflix, and they blinked first and decided to postpone the documentary,” a source told the outlet.

The Duke and Duchess docuseries did not have an official release date initially, but multiple sources said it was to drop before Christmas - about a month after the premiere of the fifth season of The Crown.

The delay comes after former Prime Minister John Major hit out at The Crown (PA)

At the weekend, it was claimed they were issues with the programme after producers allegedly had concerns with comments Harry and Markle made, which appeared to contradict what he wrote in his upcoming memoir.

The delay comes after John Major hit out at The Crown that shows King Charles III - then Prince Charles - complaining to the former Prime Minister about having to take over the throne.

A Netflix spokesperson had said: “Series five is a fictional dramatisation, imagining what could have happened behind closed doors during a significant decade for the royal family - one that has already been scrutinised and well-documented by journalists, biographers and historians.”

The scene, however could be construed as specifically disrespectful, considering the Queen’s death last month.

Mr Major claims the conversation never took place and described it as “malicious nonsense.”

Netflix told the Deadline that “there’s never been any documentary from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex confirmed.”

The Mirror approached the Sussexes for comment.
