Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are allegedly "far more popular in America" because they are seen as a "modern couple", one royal author has claimed.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's popularity in the States has skyrocketed as they've become involved in "issues that really matter", the Mirror reports. Markle is well-respected for her charity work and is expected to receive the 2022 Woman Of Vision award for "her global advocacy to empower and advocate on behalf of women and girls".
The couple also recently met up with some Californian students to speak about the ways in which they can help prevent feelings of peer-pressure and lack of self confidence among young people.
Clive Irving, author of The Last Queen, believes it's this type of charitable work which has made the couple so appealing to the American public.
Irving claims: "Harry and Meghan are far more popular in America because they are a very modern couple and they deal with modern issues.
"Both of them are involved in issues that really matter but Harry in particular pays a lot of attention to the care of former military people that have suffered from various stresses".
Speaking to the Express, Clive explained that Harry and Meghan are admired in America because "Americans have come to see the monarchy much more like Harry and Meghan than Charles and Camilla."
New data has indicated that Americans are showing their support for the Sussexes in large numbers.
Newsweek surveyed 1,500 US registered voters last month and 39 per cent confirmed that they viewed Harry in a positive light.
This is an 18-point improvement on figures that were revealed in February.
Meghan has also seen an increase in her popularity with 33 percent of respondents in April saying they liked the Suits actress against 39 percent who viewed her unfavourably.
Meghan is set to receive an award in New York this evening from Gloria Steinem.
The Ms Foundation's Women of Vision Award is dedicated to females who have had a positive impact in their respective fields.
