A royal source has claimed Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are being "used" and "exploited" by Netflix, ahead of the couple's new series being released on the streaming platform.
Good Morning Britain spoke to a relative of King Charles III, after a trailer for the series was released - with claims Meghan and Harry would reveal "the truth".
Amid the new series sparking a passionate debate between hosts Robert Rinder and Susanna Reid on Tuesday, GMB's North America Correspondent Noel Phillips revealed what the royal source had said.
In the claim, the unnamed source said the Sussexes were "prey" and "candy" to people "in the habit of using" others in response to Netflix and the trailer.
The source claimed Oprah Winfrey "benefitted" in the same way after her explosive televised interview with Meghan and Harry last year.
Speaking on the show on Tuesday, Noel said: "There's a lot of anxiety around Harry and Meghan's new reality TV show. Let's call it that because it is a reality TV show. If the two trailers are an indication of what is to come, I think it's fair to say a lot of people should be worried.
"But we have been speaking to a relative of the King who has spoken anonymously to this programme, essentially accusing Netflix of exploiting The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, saying the £88million deal they signed to tell their story, Netflix has taken it and glamourised it and manipulated their story.
"Supporters of Harry and Meghan say that is far from the truth and absolutely not what is happening, this is very much Harry and Meghan taking control of their narrative and there is no stopping them right now."
He then revealed the source quote, which read: "By letting them loose they are now prey for anybody in the habit of using people. Harry and Meghan are being used and they are prey for anybody who wants to make money. Oprah did so. She benefited from that interview.
"They are like candy for people who want to use them. They are now in such a vulnerable place they have to deal with the sharks and charlatans."
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV1 and ITVX.
