Meghan Markle’s relationship with the Princess of Wales was doomed early on because of a feud over outfits from a top designer, an expert claimed.
Tensions between the pair were said to be triggered when the Duchess of Sussex found herself behind Kate in the queue for the latest options from Brit Erdem Moralıoğlu.
The former Suits star was said to be a huge fan of the designer and had worn a number of his dresses before joining The Firm.
However, falling behind her sister-in-law reportedly upset the American, who was so upset she reportedly questioned why Kate was ahead when she “wasn’t even Queen”.
After becoming a royal, Meghan did not publicly wear the respected designer's outfits until 2019, according to the Telegraph.
The fact that the clothes were handed to Kate first reportedly went down badly with the Sussexes.
Prince Harry’s book Spare revealed more details of a fallout between the pair over Princess Charlotte's bridesmaid dress, claiming the incident left Meghan 'sobbing on the floor'.
Harry claimed the incident was largely driven by Kate, who was angered at having to wait a day to hear back from Meghan about the offending garment ahead of the 2018 Royal wedding.
It comes as a royal expert said Harry was "fooling himself" if he thought his wife and sister-in-law were going to be "best of buddies".
The Duke of Sussex took aim at Kate in his controversial memoir Spare and shared details of a row over bridesmaids' dresses at the time of his wedding, which left Meghan in tears.
Earlier this year Meghan Markle was named among the celebrities with the most popular style, beating her sister-in-law Kate Middleton.
The Duchess of Sussex is known for her simple yet chic outfits and has been praised by fans for her "timeless and fashion-forward" looks.
The 41-year-old is often seen sporting a crew neck sweater and wide-leg trousers and seems to be a fan of laid-back outfits.
However, Meghan still loves her more elegant looks and was recently spotted wearing a white off-the-shoulder Louis Vuitton gown as she enjoyed a date night with Prince Harry.
The actress has now been revealed as one of the women with the most influential styles in America.
A new study conducted by fashion retailer Boohoo crowned Meghan in fourth place on its most searched-for style list and revealed her fashion is the most Googled in seven US states, including Colorado, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts.
Searches across the US as a whole for Meghan's fashion stand at an average of 49,700.
Kate Middleton came just behind Meghan in fifth place. The Princess of Wales has an average of 44,900 searches made each month for her outfits and style.
