Meghan Markle and Harry wind down blacked out windows to wave at Queen's Jubilee crowds

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were all smiles as they arrived in London for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee Trooping the Colour.

Despite now having a role in the official event, they were invited to watch the spectacular military procession from a room at the Horse Guards.

They sat side by side in the back of a Range Rover with blacked out windows, but they wound them down to wave and smile at well-wishers.

Meghan can be seen wearing a navy dress and a stunning white statement hat with a navy bow. Unlike his royal relatives, Prince Harry wasn't dressed in his military uniform but instead looked smart in a dark suit.

Emily Sevenoaks, 28, of London, who took the photo told The Mirror: "It was pretty uneventful, I’d heard the police bike escorts blowing the whistles so I’d dashed over and got my camera on ready as they whizzed past.

"It all happened very quickly to be quite honest but it was amazing to see some royals up close!"

They were spotted through the Horse Guards windows during the Trooping event, with Meghan mucking around the some of the royal children - including Mike and Zara Tindall's daughter, Mia. She was seen jokingly shushing them during the festivities.

Today's event kicked off four days of events to celebrate the Queen's 70 years on the throne.

Meghan and Harry brought their children, Archie and Lilibet, to the UK for the first time since quitting the royal family in 2020.

Meghan has returned once for a secret, private visit ahead of the Invictus Games while Harry has come back on two other occasions - Prince Philip's funeral and the unveiling of the Princess Diana statue.

It's the first time the couple's daughter Lilibet has been to the UK. She will celebrate her first birthday here on Saturday, with the Queen due to attend her party.

It's still unclear exactly what parts of the Jubilee celebrations the Sussexes will be part of, but they're expected to join The Firm for the Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul's Cathedral tomorrow.

Reflecting on Meghan's brief appearance today, body language expert Judi James told The Mirror Meghan looked "in here element" spending time with the royal kids.

She said: "Glimpsed from a window we could see Meghan and Harry looking unexpectedly relaxed and upbeat in a low-key appearance that seemed much more to their tastes than previous awkward, tense appearances with the rest of the Firm.

"Meghan was looking playful and in her element with a group of young royals who also seemed to adore her, shushing them with her eyes wide and rounded but also smiling and she shushed to suggest she wasn’t being totally serious.

"Her loving gaze at Harry created some solid continuity with the more public PDAs the couple are famous for and the fun they were having looked a world away from some of the more tense-looking poses from the top level royals out on the balcony as they watched the fly-past."
