Meghan Markle allowed an aide to demand her a spot at a posh restaurant by name dropping Prince Harry, a new book claims.
The alleged incident took place before the pair got married, with the handler said to have told staff "it's for someone who is dating a prince".
Michael Cecchi-Azzolina's memoir 'Your Table Is Ready: Tales of a New York City Maître D' includes tales from his time at the high end venue.
He claims during the incident, Meghan, who was then known for her role in TV show Suits, didn't speak but remained "aloof".
Mr Cecchi-Azzolina said the party was told the restaurant still didn't have a private table ready for them.
Meghan had arrived 20 minutes early for the booking and he alleged her handler got aggressive with staff.
In the upcoming memoir, a segment of which has been published in The Sun, he said the aide told him: “Are you aware my guest is dating Prince Harry and about to be a duchess? Don't you have a private area for us to wait?”
The ex-maître d' wrote his "first impulse was to laugh" during the incident.
"I couldn't give two s**ts about Prince Harry's date, and by the attention the escort was drawing from the crowd at the bar, nor did anyone else."
He added: “We get the most powerful people in the world that come here — no one really cares about you.”
It comes after Whoopi Goldberg took aim at Meghan following her latest podcast comments about her time on Deal Or No Deal.
The View presenter, 66, seemingly accused the former Suits actress of "making other women feel bad" about their career choices.
Meghan recalled her time on Deal or No Deal and admitted having conflicting feelings about the experience.
In the latest release from her Spotify podcast series Archetypes, Meghan, 41, candidly discusses the way women are often labelled as 'bimbos'.
The mum-of-two then reflected on her time as a 'briefcase girl' on America's version of the hit gameshow.
She said while she was grateful of the opportunity, she eventually quit because there was too much focus on her looks.
Sister Act star Ms Goldberg expressed her own opinion, saying: "OK. I just wanna say that on that show, you had a suitcase, and they wanted to know, is this the deal you want, or this is not the deal you want.
"I don't know that the people who are sitting there are thinking about you like that. They're thinking: 'I want the money.'"
