Tyler Perry has said Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were going through a “difficult time” when he invited them to move into his mansion in Los Angeles.
Back in 2020, the movie producer let the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their young son Archie movie into his £16 million, 18-bedroom home, after they moved to LA and stepped back from royal duties
Tyler, 53, appeared on the Today show and spoke to presenters, Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager, about his admiration for the couple who “found each other” against the odds.
In the past, Meghan, 41, said that Tyler had offered the couple his home when they parted ways with the Royal Family and established their new life in the states.
“It was a very difficult time for them,” Tyler reflected about when the couple first moved in with him.
“What I know about the two of them, and I wish the world knew, how much these two people love each other,” he said, “They found each other out of all these odds against them finding each other.
He added: “They found each other and the love they have is really, really moving and I wanted to do anything I could to support them.”
Tyler’s heart-warming description of the couple’s love, even reflected what he wished for in his own romantic relationships.
Discussing Harry, 38, and Meghan’s relationship, he said: “If I don't have that, what she and Harry have, I don't want it. That's really amazing.”
The glowing testimony comes only days after Harry and Meghan received a swarm of “silly” criticism, as they attended Queen Elizabeth’s II funeral on Monday.
Originally, the couple were only supposed to spend a few days in the UK, before the tragic death of the Queen reunited Harry and Meghan with his family.
In the days that followed the Queen’s death, Harry and Meghan were trolled on Twitter for “inappropriate” and “disrespectful” behaviour such as holding hands at the Queen’s lying of state.
As the couple left the hall, they tightly gripped each other’s hands at the emotional event, while some other members of the royal family walked side by side without touching.
The Queen’s granddaughter Zara Tindall and her husband Mike Tindall also held hands in the procession as US publication, The Cut pointed out when people began to slam the Sussex’s online.
They wrote: "While it’s true that PDA is generally looked down upon in the royal family, Princess Anne’s daughter, Zara Tindall, also held hands with her husband, Mike, at the exact same event — something no one seems to have had an issue with. Hmmm.
The article also referenced the public reaction to Meghan, as she joined her husband and Prince William and Kate Middleton to meet mourners outside Windsor Castle.
They continued: "While Meghan was shaking hands with mourners gathered outside Windsor Castle last Saturday, several women refused to engage with her, looking down to avoid eye contact and ignoring Meghan’s hand when she reached out for a handshake.
"The women got plenty of support on Twitter, where one user called the person who rejected her handshake her 'spirit animal'."
It has been reported by an Insider that Harry and Meghan have made a truce with the Prince and Princess of Wales for the funeral, but there is still trust to be rebuilt between the couples.
