It's been the most talked about documentary for days - now claims have emerged of 'misleading' footage being used to promote Harry and Meghan 's Netflix show.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex's latest foray into celebrity life came around the same time that Prince William and Kate Middleton hosted the Earthshot awards in the US.
It also coincided with serious allegations of racism within the royal household.
In the latest trailer, producers seemingly used totally unconnected footage to illustrate the Sussexes' plight, writes The Mirror.
It included the press filming Donald Trump ’s former lawyer Michael Cohen in New York and Katie Price outside a court in Crawley - not Harry and Meghan.
The clips are used to draw parallels with what they and Princess Diana endured in being relentlessly chased by photographers and narrated by the royal couple.
It comes just days after an image in the first teaser was revealed to be a scrum of photographers at a Harry Potter movie premiere - not harassing the Duke and Duchess.
Another was dated to before Meghan’s relationship with the royal prince, and was from when he was dating Chelsy Davy.
In the latest clip, as Harry narrates over the top, a brief moment shows photographers rushing towards a building that is thought to be Crawley Magistrates Court - where Ms Price was appearing for drink driving last year.
As it’s shown, Harry says: “I was terrified - I didn’t want history to repeat itself”, as he alludes to the tragic circumstances surrounding his mother’s death.
Another short part of the video shows photographers mobbing a car, as Meghan said: “I realised they [the Royal Household] are never going to protect you”.
But the brief footage used to illustrate her point is of the former president’s disgraced personal attorney, leaving his New York apartment in 2019 to serve time in prison for financial crimes, campaign finance violations and lying to Congress.
Another photograph that stirred some controversy was one taken of Harry and Meghan from a balcony above.
Royal correspondent Robert Jobson tweeted: “This photograph used by Netflix and Harry and Meghan to suggest intrusion by the press is a complete travesty.
“It was taken from an accredited pool at Archbishop Tutu’s residence in Cape Town. Only 3 people were in the accredited position. H & M agreed the position. I was there.”
The new docuseries has proven controversial since its inception with some blasting it as an attack on the Royal Family.
The trailer confirmed that the first episodes will debut this coming Thursday and more will be released a week later on December 15.
Netflix have been approached for comment.
