Meghan and Harry hope to be as “low-profile as possible” during their trip to the UK for The Platinum Jubilee

A royal commentator has stated that Harry and Meghan are aiming to be as "low-profile as possible" during their stay in the UK for the Jubilee weekend.

Omid Scobie, author of Finding Freedom, told BBC Breakfast: “I spoke with people close to the couple… who said that they want to be as low-profile as possible during this trip. It’s almost hard to believe, but I think yesterday Trooping the Colour was a great example. We didn’t really catch sight of them on TV cameras.”

Despite popular opinion that Harry and Meghan experience tension with a lot of the royal family members, Scobie added that they have a "warm and close" relationship with the Queen. He added: "Those moments with Lilibet are very much private between them and the Queen."

Scobie also mentioned that last evening at Windsor would have been the very first time the Queen would have met her namesake in the form of the young Lilibet whose birthday will be taking place on June 4. It appears the royal couple are sticking to a low-profile tactic during their stay in the UK, avoiding any high level of public attention.

They watched the Trooping the Colour event from a window and were not part of the carriage procession or exclusive group that were seen on the balcony of Buckingham Palace. They also made sure to avoid any photo-fests during their arrival at the airport, with the Queen's cars being sent to collect them from a private airport.

Due to the fact that this weekend is all about the Queen and her 70 years on the throne, both Harry and Meghan will likely continue to stay under the radar for fear of breaking any headlines and dragging attention away from the monarch. It is the first time the Sussexes have taken part in a large royal event since they left their roles in 2020 and will likely want to avoid burning any bridges during their stay.
