Meghan Markle and her son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor's "skin colour remark" was seemingly referenced in Netflix's Bridgerton spin-off series Queen Charlotte, according to fans.
Bridgerton fans think they've spotted a sly jibe at the British Royal Family, which links to the Duchess of Sussex's chat with Oprah Winfrey.
In March 2021 when Meghan and Prince Harry sat down for a tell-all chat with Oprah, the Duchess expressed how the Royal Family had several "concerns and conversations about how dark his [Archie's] skin might be when he was born".
In the chat she added: "That was relayed to me from Harry. Those were conversations that family had with him."
And now fans think that concerns surrounding skin colour in the Royal Family have been illustrated in the new Bridgerton spin-off.
Taking to Twitter to share stills from the series, one fan penned: "Queen Charlotte. The Meghan Markle / Archie 'what colour will the baby be,; reference in this scene has me deceased. Shonda said, 'The Crown won’t cover it, but I will'."
The stills that accompanied the tweet read: "[Queen Mother]: She is very brown," to which someone replied: "I did say she had Moor blood, ma'am."
Replying, the Queen Mother added: "You did not say that she would be that brown."
"But I did say she had Moor blood," someone replied, with the Queen Mother adding: "Very brown."
Replying to the tweet, one person wrote: "I thought it was only me who realised this resemblance."
"I noticed that as well but was not sure if it was to do with Meghan or because of the racism in those times," added a second.
While a third penned: "Yes. Facts."
And a fourth said: "Yasss! Shonda is everything had me shooketh with that Meghan/Archie shade. Can't wait to see what else she has in store for us!"
Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story was dropped onto streaming platform Netflix on May 4.
The series shows how the young queen's marriage to King George of England turns into a love story fit for a queen.
Created by Shonda Rhimes, an American television screenwriter, producer, and author, the series is a spin-off from the Bridgerton franchise.
