After sparking dating rumours with NBA player Torrey Craig, Megan has seemingly ruffled the feathers of his supposed ex Olivia Davis. However, her sorry attempt at shading the rapping queen has landed her in hot water, with some punters on the internet accusing the influencer and her friends of being racist towards the Grammy-winning artist.
Taking to the 3 Girls, 1 Kitchen podcast, Olivia, alongside her friends Lana Rhodes and Alexa Adams, opted to vent about her ex’s new flame. However, during the yap, Olivia struggled to pronounce Megan’s name.
“Well, where do I start, do I start where my ex is dating ‘The Magan’, what is it? ‘The Magan The Stallion,’ what’s her name?” Olivia said as her friends giggled before they blamed her mispronunciation on her growing up in a bilingual home.
Further in the podcast episode, Lana recalled how she found out about the rumoured romance between Megan and Torrey, and how she was curious about what his type of woman was.
“I just wonder what his type is, you guys dated and he was talking to other girls when he was talking to you, and like they all look like … you guys,” Lana said, looking towards her fellow podcast host.
The internet defends Megan Thee Stallion
Following the virality of the podcast snippet, many folks across the web quickly came to the rapper’s defence. Some fans noted that Olivia should know who Megan is after using her songs for outfit checks on Instagram.

Other fans called out the trio for their pretend confusion, with one TikTok describing their ignorance as “like saying you didn’t know the grass was green”.
One pop culture TikToker, Reyah (@Reyahthelastdragon), also called out Davis for intentionally mispronouncing Megan’s name, describing the shady move as “hella microaggressive”.
Lana Rhodes responds to the backlash
After receiving an immense amount of backlash online, specifically surrounding her speculation on Torrey’s type of woman, Lana shared an explanation on YouTube.
In the video, Lana clarified her stance, stating she didn’t mean to say that Torrey’s dating history was “like us”, AKA white women.
“I gestured to my two co-hosts and said all of the girls looked like you guys,” she explained.
“Why would I say that if I meant white woman as a whole? I meant a specific look. Like you looked at all of these women that my friend was showing me, that he was talking to at the time, you would think they were all the same person.
“It wasn’t a difference in skin colour.”
Furthermore, Lana explained Olivia fucking up Megan’s name wasn’t shade, but a struggle the influencer reportedly has with vowels.
“Lastly, it was misconstrued that Olivia was trying to throw shade at Meg because she was not able to properly say Meg, but could say Meghan,” she began.
“She grew up in a bilingual home. Her mother is from Ukraine and if you watch the entire episode this is brought up multiple times.”
Olivia Davis apologises to Megan Thee Stallion
In an impromptu interview with TMZ, Olivia said that she has “never been called a racist in [her] entire life” and that it’s a “shock” to her.
She then went on to explain that she’d been silent on the backlash due to the devastating Los Angeles wildfires.

“Honestly, I’ve just been staying silent right now just because of the disaster that’s happening so I feel it’s a little insensitive for people to be attacking,” she said before saying she “understands” why people are offended and that she “deeply apologise for that”.
Davis went on to say she knew Megan’s name and that her comment was a “stupid blonde moment”.
“I actually do have an issue with pronouncing vowels sometimes, and I’m not gonna play the victim and use this as an excuse, but I am foreign, I wasn’t even born here,” she continued.
“Me butchering her name was an innocent mistake. No one had thought it was going to be an issue, so I obviously do apologise to anyone I have offended or I understand how that can be disrespectful, but that wasn’t my intention at all.
“It was an honest mistake.”
Davis then admitted to using her song and assured that she’s not “bitter” over the rumoured romance. She also denied the comments regarding Torrey’s type had anything to do with race.
“I just chimed in that he happens to see or date other girls that look similar to me and that has nothing to do with race, like, I am shocked that’s even being said,” she shared.
At the time of writing, Megan has yet to respond to the podcast.
