Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Richard Bloom has granted Megan Thee Stallion a restraining order against rapper Tory Lanez until early 2030. This decision comes after Megan alleged that Lanez has been harassing her from prison through intermediaries while serving a 10-year sentence for shooting her in the feet.
The protective order was issued following a hearing where Megan's lawyers presented evidence to support the extension of the temporary restraining order until January 9, 2030. Lanez's attorney objected to the request, citing his client's incarceration as eliminating any current or future threat to Megan, with no recent direct contact between the two parties.
According to court documents, Megan obtained a temporary restraining order in November after accusing Lanez of using third parties to continue harassing her online. Call logs from the California Correctional Institution in Tehachapi allegedly show Lanez coordinating attacks on Megan's credibility, including spreading false claims about missing evidence in the shooting case.
In December 2022, Lanez was convicted of three felonies related to the incident, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence. Despite a rejected motion for a new trial, Lanez's legal team is currently appealing his conviction.
Megan Thee Stallion, a prominent figure in the music industry, testified during the trial that Lanez shot at her feet and demanded she dance as she walked away from a party at Kylie Jenner's residence. Megan, 29, has achieved significant success in her career, winning a Grammy for Best New Artist in 2021 and scoring chart-topping hits with songs like 'Savage' featuring Beyoncé and 'WAP' with Cardi B.
