Megan Fox has written a poetry book on ‘toxic men’

It’s been a relatively quiet year for Megan Fox. Last year, it felt like every other day brought a headline about her and fiancé Machine Gun Kelly — drinking each other’s blood, going on joint hallucinogenic trips, splitting up, not splitting up, etc.

Whether we liked it or not, the pair continued to offer up information, in excessive detail, on their bizarre, intimate love affair, and the media lapped it up like a hungry bloodhound (or like Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly at their all-you-can-drink bottomless blood brunch or whatever.)

Then, in 2023, after some slightly more serious-sounding rumours of a break-up, the pair toned it down a bit, and everyone seems to have benefitted. Fox, in particular, has clearly had more time to work on her creative endeavours, given that yesterday she announced a new side hustle — and no, it wasn’t a beauty brand.

Fox is due to release a book of her own poetry, entitled Pretty Boys are Poisonous, due in November 2023. As denoted by the book’s title, Fox’s collection of poems will chronicle “the ways in which we fit ourselves into the shape of the ones we love, even if it means losing ourselves in the process”.

Described as “heartbreaking and dark”, Fox has compiled more than 70 poems which, according to publisher Gallery Books, showcases the actress’s penchant for “wicked humour”, that makes for a “deliciously compelling and addictive” read.

Fox has said of the collection: “These poems were written in an attempt to excise the illness that had taken root in me because of my silence. I’ve spent my entire life keeping the secrets of men, my body aches from carrying the weight of their sins.

“My freedom lives in these pages, and I hope that my words can inspire others to take back their happiness and their identity by using their voice to illuminate what’s been buried, but not forgotten, in the darkness.”

While it may sound like the kind of poetry you’d write and release while fresh off a breakup, Fox and MGK (real name Colson Baker) appear to be going strong and are apparently back on track with their wedding plans. According to a source, “Everything between Megan and Machine Gun Kelly has been great lately. They’re in a really good place in their relationship and have worked to get things back on track. They are fully back together and enjoying it. They are talking about their future plans and about moving forward with their engagement and wedding planning.”

MGK also expressed support for Fox’s poetry endeavours, commenting under her announcement post yesterday, “Proud of you,” along with the fire emoji.

Though it’s unclear which “poisonous” boys Fox’s book will focus on, her relationship history includes former Transformers co-star Shia LaBeouf and 90210 alum Brian Austin Green, with whom she shares three sons, Noah, 10, Bodhi, nine, and Journey, six. However, all available evidence points towards Fox having healthy relationships with these men now.

She has previously expressed a disdain for another powerful man, Michael Bay, the director of the Transformers films, whom she alleges told her to just “be hot” when giving directions during their filming together. “He’s like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation,” she claimed of the director’s temperament, “He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is.”

Bay has previously responded to Fox’s criticism of his working style, telling GQ in 2011: “I wasn’t hurt, because I know that’s just Megan. Megan loves to get a response.” He continued: “I’m sorry, Megan. I’m sorry I made you work twelve hours. I’m sorry that I’m making you show up on time. Movies are not always warm and fuzzy.”

Fox has also defended Bay since, saying in 2020: “While some of my working relationships were very challenging, that one wasn’t one where I was sexually harassed or suffered so I felt like I needed to defend him and clarify that. I have plenty of stories, but they don’t involve Michael.”
