Megan Barton-Hanson blasts new Love Island stars for being 'too boring'

She found fame on Love Island herself – but now Megan Barton-Hanson has slammed the ITV dating show for being too boring.

The 29-year-old said new contestants are more concerned with being liked and landing big brand deals than making interesting TV.

Meghan admitted having sex on the show with both Eyal Booker and ex-boyfriend Wes Nelson.

And the star – who later came out as bisexual – joked she would have coupled up with Irish beauty Maura Higgins if she’d had the chance.

Last year, Megan revealed she had become a millionaire and bought her first house after joining adults-only site OnlyFans.

Although she still owes part of her fame and success to Love Island, Megan wasn’t very complimentary about the show in a new interview with The Sun.

She shared: “I did watch Love Island this year but everyone is being too safe. They want to sit on the fence and not offend anyone or steal anyone’s boyfriend.

“I think that because people like Molly-Mae have gone on to make billions of pounds, people are being too sensible because they want to be liked."

“Back in the day people would be themselves and be a bit ruthless," she added.

Megan is backing an LGBTQ+ version of the show or a middle-aged version, like the one about to be presented by Davina McCall.

The former Big Brother presenter is set to host a new dating show called The Romance Retreat, which will follow single parents on their mission to find love.

Giving her opinion on what she’d like to see on TV to shake things up a bit, Megan added: “You know the Karens, where they tell you their life story and if they want d**k they are going to get it? That’s the kind of energy we need.

“We don’t need these 21-year-olds who are just trying to get a PrettyLittleThing deal.”

After appearing on Love Island, Molly-Mae Hague went on to land a reported £1 million job as PrettyLittleThing’s creative director.

Fellow Love Islander Gemma Owen – daughter of footballer Michael Owen- has also landed a big deal with the brand as one of their ambassadors.

Megan’s ex Wes has launched a music career and is set to go on tour this year after signing a deal with EMI Records.

Other stars – such as Maura Higgins - have gone down the TV presenting route since appearing on the dating show.

Danny Dyer’s daughter, also called Dani Dyer, has gone on to front TV shows and a podcast with her famous dad.
