While first impressions are often based on physical attributes, Megan Fox is a deeply spiritual individual who wishes more people noticed her aura. “I have a rainbow aura, and it’s special,” the 36-year-old actress says with a grin.
Fox rose to fame in the 2007 blockbuster hit Transformers and reprised her role as Mikaela Banes in the franchise’s sequel two years later. Since then, she’s starred in films such as Jennifer’s Body (her favorite project to date) and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, while landing on the cover of countless publications like GQ, Interview, Cosmopolitan and now the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue.

“Shooting Sports Illustrated Swimsuit is definitely a lot of pressure,” the mom of three admits, adding that she manifested the opportunity into reality. “I have a vision in my head that I’m trying to achieve, so we’ll see if it pans out for me.”
Fox worked with photographer Greg Swales on her cover feature, which was shot on location at Tropicalia in the Miches region of the Dominican Republic. While she went into the experience with an open mind, Fox says she felt more and more comfortable as the day went on. She describes herself as having a childlike joy and feels her most genuine self when she’s in nature—which made the southern coast of Samaná Bay the ideal location for Fox’s beachside feature.
During the shoot, Fox donned an incredible beaded bikini made of gold coins, a multicolor two-piece with a delicate body chain and a vibrant red, pink and blue cut-out one-piece with a plunging neckline.
“What I most want people to know is that I’m a genuine soul who is hoping to actually belong to something and not always have to live as a misunderstood outcast,” says Fox, adding that she is a thoughtful, articulate and deep person.
“[Fox] humbly accepts her stunning beauty while simultaneously seeking to be seen and appreciated as the woman of intellect and internal beauty,” editor in chief MJ Day shares.
Fox is in great company this year, as three additional women—legendary lifestyle guru and entrepreneur Martha Stewart, Grammy Award-winning artist Kim Petras and five-time SI Swimsuit model Brooks Nader—were also bestowed with their own 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue covers.
