A group of young entrepreneurs are getting set to open a massive film and photography studio in Newcastle city centre.
The four friends, who operate their business under the names Caviar Studios and Social Syrup, film music videos for up-and-coming artists and advertising content for major brands across the North East. Now the ambitious team has set their sights on opening the city's biggest film and photography studio in the former Hertz building on Forth Banks, as they look to take their business to the next level.
Caviar Studios is made up of director Silvio Martinez, 26, Ethan Mclaughlin, 23, head of video production, Gilberto Amaral, 20, head of creative, and Andrew Pyle, 33, head of photography.
Work is currently under way to transform the space into two studios with a total size of over 5,300sqt and a 600sqft office. The new home comes after the business struggled to find a North East studio that was easily accessible and adaptable for the needs of each project.
Silvio said: "We create content for businesses and individuals as well as music videos. We have been doing that for around five years now, filming across the North East, but have always been encountering the problem of the studios we use being too small or hard to get to.
"We haven't been able to do what we want to do or what we need to do to get the right shots. But when we have been working in London or Manchester we never seem to encounter these problems.
"Our clients are growing in the North East so we decided to get a location that is easily accessible by car or foot for people in the region and that has the space to solve the problem for us."
The business, which has worked with restaurant chains, dental practices and luxury property brands, hopes the new space will lead to further opportunities such as film and TV work.
"We do everything - videos, photography and graphic design," Silvio added.
"We want to create a one-stop-shop that businesses can go to. We believe that Newcastle is one of the most beautiful cities in England and is supposed to be a big media hub where everyone should have a top-of-the-line space to go to, no matter how big or small they are to create the content they want to create."
