The first image and release date of Meet The Rees-Moggs, the new behind the scenes series with former-MP Sir Jacob Rees-Mogg, has been shared by discovery+.
The image shows the politician reclining on a sofa at his home laughing in his navy suit in the middle of a chat – similar to his pose, which became widely mocked, when he reclined in the House of Commons in 2019 during a debate on avoiding a no-deal Brexit.
The five-part hour an episode docuseries, dubbed “the British version of the Kardashians”, hits screens on December 2, promises to "lift the lid on the man behind the public image."
"The fly on the wall show will be a never-before-seen look into his life at home in the 17th Century Somerset house where he lives with his wife and six children," adds discovery+.
The show follows the former Conservative politician at home with his wife Helena and their six children through the run up to the General Election – when the MP lost his seat in the North East Somerset and Hanham constituency – and the aftermath.
The series is set in the family’s 17th century home which was vandalised with words on the windows reading “posh scum” in 2018.
He was unseated by Labour’s West of England mayor Dan Norris, who won 20,739 votes compared to 15,420 for Sir Jacob. Turnout for the poll was 69.38 per cent.
The team working with Mr Mogg, and who had reportedly began filming him ahead of Rishi Sunak calling the General Election, are said to have been bowled over by his “charismatic”, “kind and warm” personality.
A source told the Sun: “Jacob and his family have been filming for the last couple of months but no one expected the General Election to be announced.
“It was gold for the show however and gave a real insight into what family is like for working MPs.
“His son Peter is really keen to make a name for himself in TV so he has been front and centre.
“Basically it’s being sold as the British version of the Kardashians and will be warts and all.”
Reports of the documentary series first circulated earlier this year when Rees-Mogg was seen being closely followed on the campaign trail and canvassing with a camera crew close by.
